Hawaiian Electric contractors will survey about 40 utility poles in areas above the Lahaina Bypass from Sept. 28 through Oct. 7.
The work will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of efforts to strengthen the electric grid and reduce wildfire risk. Temporary wooden stakes or markers may be placed near existing electrical infrastructure.
The surveys will be conducted by three-person crews from Dudek. Workers will travel in contractor-marked vehicles and carry identification badges.
Crews will not request entry to homes or businesses but may need to enter yards or other private property to reach utility poles. Workers will announce their presence before accessing equipment on private property.
Electric service will not be affected.
