Imua Family Services expands leadership team

Imua Family Services has expanded its leadership team as the organization prepares to mark 80 years of serving children and families on Maui.
Brian Nagami became the organization's first chief operating officer Sept. 1. He will oversee operations, facilities, technology and information systems, and organizational infrastructure as Imua expands its staff, programs and strategic initiatives.
Nagami has been part of Imua Family Services for 13 years. He previously served as program director from 2011 to 2016, helping expand its Early Childhood Development Program, and returned in 2018 as director of information.
Before and between his Imua positions, Nagami was executive director of the Maui County Workforce Development Board, where he led countywide workforce initiatives and helped establish the Maui American Job Center. He also has held leadership and program positions with Hale Makua Health Services, the National Kidney Foundation of Hawaiʻi, Maui AIDS Foundation and the Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Program.
"Imua has been changing lives in our community for generations, and I am honored to help lead that work into the future," Nagami said.
Nagami also has been involved in Maui community and cultural organizations, including Maui Taiko, the Maui County Sister Cities Foundation, the Japanese Cultural Society of Maui and the Maui Matsuri Festival.
"Brian's tenure with Imua has provided him with a deep understanding of our organization across multiple programs and services," said Dean Wong, Imua Family Services CEO.
The new position is intended to strengthen the organization's operational capacity as it approaches its 80th anniversary and develops new initiatives for children and families across Maui County.
