Construction is set to begin on 60 residential units at Lahaina Residential that were destroyed in the August 2023 fire.
Homeowners will gather for a blessing and groundbreaking ceremony Friday to mark the start of construction at 1034 Front St. after years of recovery, planning and permitting.
Arita Poulson General Contracting, which has operated on Maui for more than 40 years, will lead the project. Construction is expected to take about 18 months and will restore the homes to their original size and layout.
The property is within the Lahaina Historic District and adjacent to the U.S. Marine Hospital.
Kahu Alalani Hill will lead the blessing, followed by remarks from Lahaina Residential Association of Apartment Owners President Thomas Ravey and Arita-Poulson General Contracting executive team member Shannon Robinson.
