Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen and officials from his administration will host a series of community budget meetings for residents to offer input on the budget for fiscal year 2028.

The meetings will begin Wednesday in Upcountry Maui before moving to Haiku and Paia on Sept. 22, Central Maui on Oct. 6, South Maui on Oct. 15 and West Maui on Oct. 16. Additional community meetings will be held on Molokai on Oct. 23, Lanai on Oct. 27 and in East Maui on Nov. 12.

"County services, programs and projects touch our residents' lives every day, which is why hearing from the community is so important," Bissen said in a news release. "As departments prepare next year's budget, residents' needs and input on priorities help guide the process. I encourage everyone to attend a budget meeting or share feedback online -- your participation helps to ensure the voices of our community are represented."

The budget meetings for Lanai and East Maui are being held in conjunction with Holomua Kākou, or the administration's effort to bring local government services, information and officials directly to rural communities.

Written and verbal comments will be accepted at the community budget meetings.

Budget requests also can be submitted by using the form available on the county's website at mauicounty.gov/budget. Residents unable to attend the meetings in person can view the meetings on the County of Maui Facebook page.
