The public is invited to hear ReTree Hawaii founder Andrew "Andy" Fox discuss native trees, climate resilience and Maui's environmental future from noon to 1 p.m. Oct. 5 at a Rotary Club of Kahului meeting at Tante's Island Cuisine at the Maui Seaside Hotel.
Fox, a retired pediatrician who practiced on Maui for 24 years, founded ReTree Hawaii, a nonprofit that provides free native trees and shrubs to individuals and community groups. The organization has planted nearly 70,000 plants statewide since 2020, with the majority planted on Maui.
Fox will discuss how native plants can help capture cloud vapor and recharge Maui's aquifers. He will be joined by ReTree Hawaii supporter Rob Weltman.
