The University of Hawaii Maui College Culinary Arts Program will offer five hands-on cooking and baking classes this fall for residents interested in building their skills in the kitchen.

The "Just for Fun" noncredit series will begin Sept. 26 and includes instruction in knife skills, stocks, soups, fish preparation, pastries, holiday side dishes and cookie decorating.

"Our non-credit classes are all about demystifying techniques," Chef Craig Omori said. "You don’t need years of culinary training to break down a fish, simmer a great broth, or turn out bakery-quality holiday pastries. Pastry Chef Hannah and I are excited to welcome home cooks into our labs this semester to build solid kitchen fundamentals and have a great time doing it."
