The Maui County Department of Water Supply is extending its request for residents, visitors and businesses in Upper Kula to conserve water through Sept. 28 while crews repair a broken water line serving the area.
The request applies to the area from Upper Kimo Drive to Kanaio. Water users are being asked to limit consumption to essential needs, including drinking, cooking and hygiene.
The county said residents and businesses should postpone nonessential uses, including irrigation and other outdoor water activities.
Conserving water will help maintain storage levels in the Upper Kula system while repairs are underway, allowing the Department of Water Supply to preserve water for essential needs and emergency protection.
