Author and counselor John R. Sherman will speak at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset meeting Oct. 20 at the YMCA West Side Resource Center, 226 Kupuohi St., Lahaina.
Sherman will present "Talk It Up, Live It Up! -- A Subconscious Guidance System for Your Conscious Life," focusing on how the words people use can affect self-esteem, behavior and how they are perceived by others.
Sherman holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in counseling and is the author of the "Talk It Up Live It Up!" book series.
