Maui County has 77 available seats for more than 30 boards and commissions, including the Maui Planning Commission, Police Commission, Fire and Public Safety Commission, Liquor Control Commission, Salary Commission, Urban Design Review Board and others.
The county is currently seeking volunteers to fill these seats. Responsibilities include hearing public testimony, reviewing policies and making recommendations.
Positions are appointed by the mayor, confirmed by the Maui County Council and have terms lasting three to five years.
The deadline to submit applications for the next term is Nov. 11. Applications are also accepted year-round to fill vacancies.
