The Teran James Young Foundation will host a free online workshop Nov. 12 exploring restorative justice and ways to resolve conflicts through healing rather than punishment.
The interactive workshop will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Zoom and will be led by Tatiana Chaterji, a restorative justice facilitator and author of "Everyday Restorative Justice." The workshop is open to the public, and no previous knowledge of restorative justice is required.
Participants will learn about nonpunitive approaches to addressing conflict and harm and how restorative practices can help build stronger communities.
The workshop will be co-hosted by foundation co-founder Genesis Young and Sarah Puja Menzies, a mediation and restorative justice facilitator.
Organizers said the session may be particularly useful for people working in the judiciary, law, mediation and education.
Registration is free. An RSVP is encouraged but not required. Participants can indicate their attendance at tinyurl.com/2u6m2cyf.
The workshop will be followed by the foundation’s in-person Nonviolent Communication and Mediation Training Nov. 14-15 in Wailuku.
