Hana defeated Lanai 36-20 in an eight-player Maui Interscholastic League football game Saturday on Lanai.

The Dragons got on the scoreboard first when Kaya Rodrigues connected with Naau Lind on a 9-yard touchdown pass. The conversion attempt failed.

Lanai responded with a 90-yard punt return by Ky-Mani Benanua, and Braeden Ostrader ran in the two-point conversion to give the Pine Lads an 8-6 lead.

Hana took the lead back on a 2-yard touchdown run by Rodrigues and led 12-8 at the break.

The third-quarter scoring was all Hana, with a safety and a 44-yard touchdown run by Kaohu Kmai extending the Dragons' lead to 20-8.

Lanai scored twice in the fourth quarter, with Benanua running for an 8-yard touchdown and later connecting with Blaze Burkett on a 67-yard touchdown pass.

But Hana kept pace with two fourth-quarter touchdowns of its own, including a 3-yard run by Pacific Poe and a 20-yard run by Kmai.

The win gave Hana its second straight victory and improved the Dragons to 2-1 overall, while Lanai fell to 1-3.
