Hawaii receives $81.4 million for storm-damaged roads, bridges

1 min read

Hawaii is receiving nearly $81.4 million in federal funding to repair roads, bridges and other structures damaged by Kona low storms earlier this year, according to U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz.

Schatz said the funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation will help cover repair costs following widespread flooding.

"This new federal funding will help repair storm-damaged roads and structures as recovery from this year's historic flooding continues," Schatz said. "We're going to keep working to deliver federal resources so that affected communities can get back on their feet."

Schatz also announced that the Hawaii Department of Transportation received $2.3 million from the Federal Highway Administration’s Emergency Relief Program to repair bridges on Kauai damaged by flooding in 2020.
