Healthy Kids Running Series to kick off first race of fall season Oct. 18

The Healthy Kids Running Series will return to Maui for a five-week fall season beginning Oct. 18 at Pomaikai Elementary School in Kahului.

The series offers age-appropriate races for children ages 2 to 14, with distances ranging from 50- and 75-yard dashes for younger children to 1-mile races for older participants. More than 220 children participated in the spring season.

Races will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Oct. 18 and 25 and Nov. 1, 8 and 15 on the school's back field. Free keiki activities also will be offered throughout the season.

Registration for the five-week series is $54. Single-race registration is $16 and is available on race day. Full-series participants receive a T-shirt and a finisher medal during the final week.
