Holomua Kākou events on Lanai postponed

1 min read

Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen’s annual Holomua Kākou visit to Lanai, scheduled for Oct. 27-28, has been postponed because of severe weather forecasts and the cancellation of ferry service.

The visit was scheduled to include a Talk Story Community Meeting, Community Drop-In Center, Grant Writing Workshop and Community Budget Meeting.

Ferry service to Lanai on Oct. 28 was canceled after the National Weather Service issued a statewide flood watch, preventing county personnel from traveling to the island. Heavy rainfall, flooding and isolated thunderstorms are possible through Oct. 29.

The Grant Writing Workshop and Community Budget Meeting will be rescheduled, with new dates to be announced. Details on the Holomua Kākou visit will be released later.

For more information, Lanai residents may contact the County Office of the Mayor’s Public Affairs staff at (808) 270-7855 or public.affairs@mauicounty.gov.
