Kaunoa Senior Services, a division of the Maui County Department of Human Concerns, is seeking community members to help provide holiday gifts to about 900 kūpuna across Maui Nui through its annual Giving Tree program.
From Nov. 5-20, community members can select holiday wish tags from the Giving Tree at Kaunoa Senior Center, 401 Alakapa Place in Paia, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays. Each tag lists a requested gift for a senior participating in Kaunoa’s Congregate Nutrition, Meals on Wheels or Assisted Transportation programs on Maui, Lanai and Molokai.
Participants are asked to purchase the requested gift and return it unwrapped to Kaunoa by Nov. 30. Staff and volunteers will wrap and deliver the gifts before Christmas.
"Beyond providing a gift, the Giving Tree reminds our kūpuna that they are valued members of our community," said Margaret "Maggie" Willis, director of the Department of Human Concerns.
The program is coordinated by Kaunoa’s Retired & Senior Volunteer Program.
