Wailuku Film Festival opens submissions for 2027 event
The Wailuku Film Festival is accepting submissions for its second annual event, which is scheduled for mid-June.
The festival will feature six film categories: Hawaii, indigenous voices, watersports, student films, animation and ocean conservation. Animation and ocean conservation are new categories for 2027.
Early-bird submissions will be accepted at discounted rates through Jan. 1. General submissions close April 1, while student films may be submitted through May 1.
The inaugural five-day festival in 2026 drew more than 5,300 attendees and screened more than 100 films representing 15 countries and indigenous nations. The program included more than 55 films produced in Hawaii and more than 30 student films.
The festival is an initiative of the Maui Film Office supported by Maui County.
