1 min read

Maui Ocean Center will celebrate the grand opening of its new limu exhibit at 9 a.m. Nov. 12, with a day of educational activities and cultural experiences.

Located behind the Surge Zone near the aquarium’s entrance, the exhibit currently features four types of limu and educational signage about their role in Hawaii’s coastal ecosystems. Plans include adding more varieties of limu and developing seed stock to support future restoration efforts.

Groups including Ke Kīpuka Limu and Waimānalo Limu Hui will offer hands-on educational activities throughout the day. Special kamaaina admission prices of $15 for adults and $10 for children will be available Nov. 12.

A free educational program featuring limu specialists and aquaculturists will begin at 6 p.m. in the Sphere Theater. Reservations are available at mauioceancenter.com/sea-talks.

Admission to the limu exhibit is included with regular aquarium admission. For more information, visit mauioceancenter.com.
