Three teens accused of stealing more than $81,000 in merchandise from Wailea stores

Three teenagers have been arrested in connection with alleged thefts totaling more than $81,000 from stores at The Shops at Wailea. According to Maui police, officers responded at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to the retail complex at 3750 Wailea Alanui Drive after receiving reports of an organized retail theft in progress. Police said three males entered a store and stole three luxury handbags valued at approximately $77,950. Hawaiian Electric monitoring wildfire conditions, warns of possible power shutoffs

Hawaiian Electric has issued a Public Safety Power Shutoff watch for parts of Maui as high winds and dry conditions increase wildfire risk. The utility said Friday it is closely monitoring conditions on Maui as well as areas of Hawaii Island. A watch means Hawaiian Electric could proactively shut off power within the next 24 to 48 hours if weather conditions worsen, though no shutoffs have been ordered. Another teen arrested in riot, assault at Kaanapali resort

A 14-year-old Lahaina boy has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault and riot at a West Maui resort earlier this month, bringing the total number of people arrested in the case to eight. According to Maui police, the teen voluntarily turned himself in Thursday at the Wailuku Police Station. He was arrested on suspicion of riot and later released to his parents after Family Court was notified.
