The monthly Paʻūpili Lahaina 3rd Saturdays gathering will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 19 at Lahaina United Methodist Church. The free event will feature cultural activities offered in partnership with the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, including ʻawa tasting, lei making, coconut frond weaving, lomilomi and an ʻukulele lesson with Jason Jerome of Lahaina Music. West Maui residents may dispose of recyclable bulky items for free from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 19 near the Pioneer Mill smokestack on Lahainaluna Road. Drivers should enter from Kuhua Street. Maui United Way plans Dec. 5 ‘Ulana Gala
Maui United Way will hold its ‘Ulana Gala: Weaving a Stronger Maui Nui from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 5 at Old Lāhainā Lūʻau. Free diabetes workshop series begins Sept. 16
The Maui County Office on Aging and Mauliola Pharmacy’s Hoʻokaulike Wellness branch will offer a free six-week Diabetes Self-Management workshop series from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 16 through Oct. 21.
