Festivals of Aloha is accepting applications for two Hawaiian falsetto singing contests planned for later this year. The 24th annual Richard Ho‘opi‘i Leo Ki‘eki‘e Hawaiian Falsetto Contest for kane will be held Sept. 19 at The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua. A Grand Canyon river rafting guide who aimed to become the first American woman to row across the mid-Pacific solo has completed a record-breaking journey from California to Hawaii. Study: Maui among areas facing early reef recreation losses

Leeward Maui is among the areas expected to see the earliest and most severe recreational losses from climate-driven coral reef decline, according to a new study that estimates Hawaii residents could lose between $1.8 billion and $3 billion in reef-related recreation by 2100.
