Man, 49, convicted on 16 child sexual assault counts

A jury deliberated for less than two hours Thursday before convicting Roberto Omar Morales Andrade, 49, of Lahaina on 16 counts of sexual assault involving a child. According to a news release, the verdict followed a two-week trial before Second Circuit Judge Kirsten M. Hamman. The jury found Morales Andrade guilty of eight counts of first-degree sexual assault and eight counts of third-degree sexual assault. US military identifies 2 soldiers killed in Iranian attack on Jordan as from Texas and Hawaii

WASHINGTON — The U.S. military on Monday identified two soldiers killed in action last week as part of the war with Iran. The Defense Department said in a statement that 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, were killed in Jordan, where they were supporting a U.S. mission against the Islamic State group. Selenium detected in Makawao water

Trace levels of selenium have been found for the first time in the Maui County Department of Water Supply’s Makawao water system. The department said the initial detection occurred in a sample collected during routine testing on May 29, 2026. A follow-up test from a sample collected on June 19 confirmed selenium levels ranging from 3.7 to 4.9 micrograms per liter, the county said.
