A two-day enforcement operation at Home Depot in Wailuku resulted in multiple arrests related to shoplifting, drug offenses and other crimes, according to the Maui Police Department. Haiku man killed in motorcycle crash in Makawao

A 48-year-old man from Haiku died in a motorcycle crash Wednesday night in Makawao. Police have identified the man as Jeremy Salinas. The crash occurred at about 10:28 p.m. on Piiholo Road near Mahiai Place. According to Maui police, Salinas was driving a 2006 Honda CRF223F motorcycle north on Piiholo Road when he failed to negotiate a left bend in the road and went up an embankment. Salinas was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the preliminary investigation indicates Salinas was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The ...
