Florence Tomiko Ueoka, 99
Florence Tomiko Ueoka, 99, of Wailuku, Maui, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 23, 2016, at Hale Makua. She was born on May 7, 1917, in Puunene, Maui.
Private services were held on August 11, 2016 at Paia Mantokuji Mission. The family respectfully requests no monetary offerings.
Florence retired from the Department of Water Supply. Her pastimes included traveling, reading, and volunteering for different organizations. She was a lifelong advocate for women’s rights.
Florence is survived by her sons, Travis (Donna Droby) Ueoka, Paul (Gwen) Ueoka; daughters, Pamela (Ronald) Leong, April (Daniel) Mercer; and grandchildren, Wesley Ueoka, Jeffrey (Sherilyn) Ueoka, Derik Leong, and Cris Leong. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Noriyuki Ueoka.
