Toshio Takamiya, 84

Toshio Takamiya, 84, of Wailuku passed away peacefully on September 24, 2016 at the Maui Memorial Medical Center with his family by his side.

Private services were held.

Toshio was born on March 16, 1932 in Wailuku, Maui to Jitsuji and Masako Takamiya.  He graduated from Henry Perrine Baldwin High School and attended Auto Mechanic School on the Mainland.  He also served in the United States Air Force and in the Korean War.  He lived and worked in Los Angeles for many years before returning home to Maui where he worked as an Auto Mechanic and was part owner of JST Automotive.  He later worked for TLC Automotive until his retirement.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching all kinds of sports and spending time with his family.

Toshio is survived by his brother, Shigeru (Irene) Takamiya; sisters, Hiroko (Isamu) Higa, Chiyeko (Richard) Sasaoka, Setsuko (Arthur) Fujimoto, Shirley Yoshie Warren & Helen Emi (George) Uyehara and a sister-in-law, Kimiko Takamiya.  He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews and their families.

The Takamiya Family would like to thank the Doctors & Nurses of Maui Memorial Medical Center ER & ICU Departments, Liberty Dialysis of Maui and his wonderful Doctors - Dr. Daniel Garcia, Dr. Phillip Milne & Dr. Robert Demello for the excellent care that was given to Toshio over the years.

Toshio was a blessing to our family and he will be greatly missed.  His kindness will always be remembered and his memory will live on in our hearts forever.
