Thomas T. Nomura, 73
Thomas Tsuneo Nomura, 73, of Waikapu, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 4, 2017. Family services were held.
Nakamura Mortuary assisted with arrangements.
Thomas was born on January 23, 1943 in Puunene to Tanio & Sumi Nomura. After graduating from Baldwin High School, Thomas went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He served as an insurance sales representative for Mutual Underwriters for a number of years. When he wasn’t working, Thomas enjoyed traveling to Japan a few times a year with his family. Always planning his next trip, it was like he never got enough of the scenery, food, and culture that visiting Japan offered. He was also a doting grandfather to his only grandson, Austin.
Mr. Nomura was predeceased by his parents, Tanio & Sumi Nomura; and brother, Kenneth Nomura. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Bette Nomura; daughters, Tanya (David) Nishida & LeeAnn (Jason) Nomura-Matsui; grandson, Austin Nishida; and step-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Nishida. He is also survived by his brother, Patrick (Sue) Nomura; sisters, Barbara (Gerald) Nagata, Ellen (Fleming) Jorgensen; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Nomura.
