Darren K. Kato, 54

Services honoring the late Mr. Kato will be held at Maui Memorial Park on April 25, 2017 at 2:00pm.

Nakamura Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.

Darren was born on April 9, 1963 in Wailuku to Roy Kato & Lorraine Uchida. He was the eldest of three brothers. Darren graduated from Baldwin High School with the class of 1981. Darren was a bartender at various local establishments, and most recently was with Maui Beach Hotel.

Darren loved dogs, was an excellent cook and enjoyed talking story with old friends. He will be remembered as a caring, compassionate and generous man who was always there to help others in need.

Darren is survived by his mother, Lorraine (Steven) Higa; father, Roy (Teresa) Kato; brothers, Duane & Keith Kato; niece, Leila Kato; uncle, Earl Uchida; and his three beloved dogs, Maile, P ono & Shadie. He is also survived by several cousins and aunts.
