Grace Yuk Foon Yap Emmsley, 81
Grace Yuk Foon Yap Emmsley, 81, passed away on May 16, 2017 at Hale Makua-Kahului under the care of Hospice Maui. Grace was born on August 26, 1935 in Paia, Maui, to parents Kui Fong and Kam Tow (Chee) Yap.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017, from 9:00am to 10:30am at Ballard’s Mortuary in Kahului. Service will begin at 10:30 am. Cremation will follow. Urn burial at Maui Memorial Park in Wailuku on Tuesday, June 13th at 11:00am.
Grace is survived by her son, Stanley Kailana Emmsley; brothers, Robert, David (Betty) and Kenneth (Debbie) Yap; sisters, Eleanor Lee and Betty Dumaran; sister-in-law, Linda Yap and grandsons Dayten and Brent Yap. She is predeceased in death by her parents; son, Richard ‘Ricky’ Yap; brother, Lawrence Yap; and sisters Evelyn Kaholokula and Nancy Segundo.
Grace retired from Hew’s Restaurant in Paia where she worked as a waitress. Grace enjoyed playing bingo and loved giving cookies to her Hale Makua family. Word puzzles and weaving satin ribbon leis were favorite times for Grace. She loved serving on the food committee in her neighborhood.
The family thanks the staff and nurses in the Hale Makua Pikake community and Hospice Maui for their loving care, served with great dignity and respect.
