Howard Matsuo Nishimura, 68

He was born on August 8, 1949 to Yoshiko and Yoshito Nishimura in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. He is survived by brothers David, Norman and Ernest, all of Maui, and dear friend Ken Fessler of Greenwood.

Howard graduated from Lahainaluna High School and enlisted in the Army. He trained as a helicopter repairman and served in Vietnam. He received multiple awards for his service, most notably the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service.

After returning from Vietnam, Howard earned a degree in Aircraft Mechanics Technology from the University of Hawaii. He worked in Aviation maintenance in Honolulu until moving to Indianapolis to work for United Airlines. He was employed there for seventeen years.

For the past three years he resided at Greenwood Healthcare Center. Thank you to the staff for their care and kindness shown to him.

Howard was a quiet, honorable and kind man.

Per his wishes, he will be buried at Maui Veterans Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care.
