He was pre-deceased by his father Daniel; mother, Esther and sister, Naomi. Survived by wife Maude; daughter, Cheryl; granddaughters, Jayme and Lindsey, and two great-grandchildren. Mel also leaves behind siblings, June (Tom) Sage, Lynn (Sandy), Glenn (Leeann), and Elsie (Allan) Morimoto.
