Demas Medeiros, 92, of Wailuku passed peacefully in his home, under Hospice care on October 4, 2018. He was born on October 1, 1926 to Julia Rezents and Antone Medeiros. He is the 5th born and has 9 siblings; Edna (D.)(Harold (D.) Ornellas, Ernest Medeiros (D.), Mathias (D.)(Peggy) Medeiros, Madline (D.)(Val (D.) Carriera, Louise (Jimmy (D.) Obedenski, Annie (Joe (D.) Corniel, Lee (Rupert (D.) Pocock, Phillip Antone “Sonny” (Laura) Medeiros, Margaret (Charles (D.) Madrid.
Demas attended St. Anthony school and Iao school before going to work to help support his family. He worked at Wailuku Sugar Co. for 46 years as a heavy equipment operator and retired in 1988 at 62. He was a member of St. Anthony church. Spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, riding horses and his hunting dogs. He was a humble and determined man throughout his life. His playful and kind nature will be greatly missed along with his stories and jokes.
Demas was reunited eternally with his loving wife, Rose Marie Medeiros, whom he shared 44 years of marriage and his great grandson Justin Flores. His life, love and memories live on by his children; Geraldine Ann (James) Flores Sr., Theresa Marie (Richard deceased) Jacintho, Glen Patrick (Shirley) Medeiros Sr. Grandchildren; James Flores Jr.(Inchala Cadorna), Laurie Flores, Keith (Doralee) Flores Sr., Arlene Jacintho (Brian Takehara), Glen “PeeWee” Medeiros Jr., Melissa Medeiros. 13 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Thursday October 18, 2018 at St. Anthony church, Wailuku. Family viewing 8:30am – 9:30am, Public viewing 9:30am – 10:30am, Mass 11am. Burial at Maui Memorial Park Garden of Meditation, Wailuku, 12:30pm; Luncheon to follow at Nakamura Mortuary, Wailuku.
