William Emil Lindstrom, 93 Nov. 5, 1925 – March 15, 2019
William Lindstrom, age 93, died at his home in Pukalani on March 15. The first of five children, his early years were spent in the coal-mining town of Johnstown, PA and the steel city of Pittsburgh. He was a 20-year Army veteran, director of Maui Community College’s Library Learning Resource Center, and two-term mayor of Pleasant Hill, Tennessee, a small rural town in Cumberland County.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors and physical activity. He completed seven marathons after age 40, hiked and backpacked until age 70, bicycled 50 miles in a bile rally at 75, and enjoyed RV camping till 80.
We wish to acknowledge the staff and volunteers of Hospice Maui, whose deeply nurturing care and support were invaluable.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, daughter Susan Martin (TX), stepdaughter Charlotte Bippert (TX), sisters Partricia Rupani (MD), Barbara Wemlinger (OH), and Donna Brautigam (WV), and two grandchildren, Ryan Kabutan (CA), and Kristen Kabutan (TN).
