Jerry Houston Skipper, 84

Jerry Skipper, 84, of Kihei passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Maui Memorial Medical Center leaving behind his wife of 26 years, Charlene Kikuyama, sons Gary Skipper, Greg Skipper (Darlene), Adam Skipper, and Gabriel Skipper, daughter Ginna Blackburn (Steve), stepdaughter Maile Uohara (Michael), 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Charles Edwin Skipper and Ella Mae (Edwards) Skipper, brother Charles Winnen Skipper, sisters Lorene Bennett and Anne David (Robert), a daughter Ginger Atkins and grandson Randy Caffee, Jr.

Jerry was born in Bladenboro, NC, spent 8 years in the Army with the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, a part of the 101st Airborne Division, the “Screaming Eagles”.

Arriving on Maui in 1967, Jerry worked for Smithsonian Institute tracking satellites from Haleakala. In 1970 he started Skipper Printing and Graphics, built it into a thriving business, then sold it in 1989. In “retirement”, he was Manager for Republic Parking at the Airport, marshalled at golf courses, did real estate and was Sales/Marketing Manager for Credit Associates.

Jerry had a passion for deep sea fishing, golf, and growing vegetable gardens.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Nakamura Mortuary with Viewing at 10 am and Service at 11 am. Burial at 2 pm at Maui Memorial Park.
