Rida Paz Baria, 72,
Rida Paz Baria, 72, passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, May 12th with her daughter at her side in Reno, NV.
She was born, Caridad Pacis Paz, on July 30th, 1946 in Bantay, Ilocos Sur Philippines. She immigrated from the Philippines to Hawaii in the 70s after leaving her government work in Bantay.
Here in Hawaii she primarily worked in the hotel industry, however she officially retired from the TSA as one of the first security agents to be installed after the 9/11 attacks. In 2013 she moved from Maui to Las Vegas where three of her four sisters resided. In 2015 she then went to Reno, NV to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
Rida is survived by her daughter, Rhoda, and son in-law, Kyle Thalman; sisters: Joann Andia, Bless (Freddie) Mariveles, Zana Cook, and Demi Jo Teano; brothers: Zachary (Frances) Paz Jr and Josefino Paz; 13 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday May 31st, from 9:00am-11:00 am at Christ the king church with Mass to follow. Burial will be at 12:30pm at Maui Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the SPCA of Northern Nevada.
