Roy Hiroshi Mukai, 82

Roy Hiroshi Mukai, 82, of Kahului passed away on March 11, 2019 at Hospice Maui. He was born to Masaru and Sakae Mukai on October 6, 1936 in Puunene, Maui.

He was a graduate of Baldwin High School. After 3 years in the Army, he worked for A&B, Baldwin High School, the State of Hawaii, and the Department of Transportation Highway Division until his retirement at age 55.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wendy Shizuko; brothers, Stanley (Teruko) Mukai, and Melvyn (Magel) Mukai; sister, Joan (Larry) Yokoyama; nephews, Troy (Jean) Yokoyama, Darin (Fiance Maureen Oshiro) Yokoyama, and Miki Mukai; and nieces, Lori (Craig) Kinoshita, Kristine (Greg) Uramoto, and Jenee (Norman) Odani.

He loved fishing but had to give it up when massage became his passion. Helping people who suffered from backaches and other pains, helping boys and girls who played sports and babies who suffered from Opuhuli.

The family would like to thank the staff and doctors of Maui Memorial Medical Center for their wonderful care and to Hospice Maui for their compassionate care.

Visitation will be held at Kahului Hongwanji Mission, on May 17, 2019 at 4:00 pm with the funeral service to begin at 5:00 pm.
