Takeo Yamauchi, 96

Takeo Yamauchi passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Paki Maui on October 19, 2019. He was born in Maui on September 30, 1923 to parents Masurao and Ichiko (Suehiro)Yamauchi.

Takeo was a prominent entrepreneur and self-made business man in Maui, who invested in start-up companies for over 40 years. He served in WWII as an interpreter attached to the US Marines. He was a charismatic lover of life and a friend to many. Apart from managing his companies, he enjoyed time with his family, traveling and always enjoyed great food and time spent with friends. Takeo has a great sense of humor and enjoyed helping friends. He had a deep appreciation of life and helping people in his community. He never complained and really had a passion to truly live life to its fullest. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him loved and appreciated his fun loving personality, positive attitude and adventurous spirit. He was loyal, genuine and kind. He will be missed by many.

Takeo is survived by Shimae Kondo Yamauchi, their daughters Donna (Cyrus) Munekata and Mandy (Brett) Ellen, 6 grandchildren – Hans Buetzer (Kristy Taylor) Tatiana (Brett) Labore, Tiffany Yamauchi, Jessica Gabel, Keanu Ellen and Tristen Ellen and 4 great grandchildren, brother Sueo Yamauchi, and hanai son, Peter McDonald. He was preceded in death by two children, Kevin Yamauchi and Wendie Buetzer.

A private celebration of life was held on Sunday, October 27, 2019.
