Gertrude Leimomi Opunui, 85, of Lahaina, passed away on December 28, 2019 at her residence. She was born in Lahaina on October 21, 1934.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lahaina, service will begin at 11 a.m., and burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Maui Veterans Cemetery.
Gertrude was a homemaker.
She is survived by her sons, George Opunui III, Harold Keola (Bernie) Opunui, Darren (Penny) Opunui, Teddy (Janeice) Opunui, and Kalanimoku (Tania) Opunui; daughters, Georgie Ann (Gerald) Opunui Kaita, Leann Opunui (Gary) Sherman, Susy (Mario) Ortiz, Bernadine (Richard) Wilkinson, Ilima (Robert) Ching, Leinaala (Daniel) Padelford, and Charmaine (Hano) Ganer; 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Gertrude was predeceased by her husband, George Opunui Jr.; daughter, Kaleimomi Opunui Hiromura; and daughter-in-law, Sonya Opunui.
