Jeanne Shida, 89
Jeanne Shida passed away peacefully in her sleep in Honolulu, on January 11, 2020. Born Jeanne Chiseko Shimada on May 5, 1930, she lived first in Puunene, then Wailuku.
A Baldwin High School graduate, she held a bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Hawaii, and a master’s degree in Education from the University of Oregon. Throughout her career, Jeanne was committed to education and a determined promoter of Title I and literacy programs.
She was loved for her quick and vibrant smile, sharp intellect, and true readiness to encourage and help everyone around her. Mrs. Shida, Mom, will be fondly remembered and truly missed.
Predeceased by her husband David Shida, she leaves behind two children, Keith (Gayle Taga), and Kathleen (Lorrin) Pang, and three grandchildren.
Burial is at Maui Memorial Park. The family humbly requests no flowers and no koden.
