Mr. Edward Yoshito Watanabe, age 81, of Hawi, Kohala, Hawaii, died October 15, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Puunene, Maui, Hawaii on May 1, 1939 and retired from the State of Hawaii Department of Education as an Elementary School Teacher at Kohala Elementary School. He was a United States Army Veteran and member of the Kohala Senior Citizen Club, Kohala Nutrition Club and Hawaii State Teachers Association-Retired (HSTA-Retired). Private services.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Watanabe of Hawi; son, Evan (Sweety) Watanabe of Wailuku; daughter, Kim (Kyle) Kawakami of Kahului; sister, Ann (Mark) Hi-yakumoto of Richmond, California; brothers-in-law, Richard (Carolyn) Nishimura of Hilo, Ronald (Grace) Nishimura of Hilo, Glenn (Katherine West) Nishimura of Little Rock, Arkansas; sister-in-law: Jennie (Robert) Hashiro of Kahului; grandchildren, Taylie Kawakami of Kahului, Tai Kawakami of Kahului, Emma Watanabe of Wailuku, Erik Watanabe of Wailuku, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends.
