Dr. Roy Yasushi Ohata, 91

Dr. Roy Yasushi Ohata of Kamuela, Hawaii, peacefully passed away on October 28, 2020 at the North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Paia, Maui, he was a graduate of Maui High School and Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he received his BA, DDS and postgraduate degrees.

He was a retired Orthodontist and a longtime member of the Rotary Club of South Hilo. He served in the US Army Dental Clinic in the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sachie Ozaki Ohata of Kamuela, son Mark (Jacquelyn) Ohata of Kailua-Kona, daughter Dr. Ruth (Bert Saito) Ohata of Hilo, brother Harold Ohata of Hilo, sisters Kay Fukuda and Tomoko Ohata of Maui, nephews and nieces.

The family wishes to thank his many friends who enriched his life with much fun and laughter and joy and happiness.
