David Herman Morton, 92

David Herman Morton, 92, of Pukalani, Maui, also known as “Uncle Dave” passed away on December 7, 2020 at Hale Makua, Wailuku. David was born on September 29, 1928 at Kula Sanatorium to Ernest and Mary (Aruda) Morton.

David grew up in Kula as his dad was a ranch foreman for Ka’ono’ulu Ranch. His first job was shooting pheasants on the ranch. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed hunting with his friends. He then went on to work for the State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation, where he worked as an equipment operator for 27 years before retiring. After retiring he en-joyed cooking and be-came a great cook. His favorite was making Portuguese soup.

He is predeceased by parents, Ernest and Mary Morton; siblings, Ernest (Lorraine) Morton and Irene (Dennis) DeCoite.

“Uncle Dave” is survived by nephews, Dennis (Priscilla) DeCoite, Ernest (Carol) DeCoite, Richard (Lorine)DeCoite and Nelson (Panie) DeCoite; nieces, Agnes (Charles – deceased) Lopes, Rose Marie (Jerome) Fernandez and Irene Hanley.

The family would like to thank the staff of Wailuku Hale Makua, especially the Lanai unit where he was loved and had excellent care and became “Uncle Dave” to many.
