Kazuyuki “Kazu” Nagano, 95

Kazuyuki “Kazu” Nagano of Pukalani, passed away on December 6, 2020, at his residence.

Kazu was born on May 12, 1925, in Kokomo, Maui. He is predeceased by his parents, Kichizo and Suma Uyemura Nagano.

Kazu is survived by four brothers, Masayuki (Florence) Nagano, Walter (Diana) Nagano, Wallace (Clara) Nagano, Allan (Carol) Nagano, and a sister Jane (Clarence-deceased) Izumi.

He is predeceased by brothers, Toshiyuki, Richard, George (Florence), and sister, Ethel Nakashima.

He is also survived by his sisters- in-law Sakiko (Toshiyuku), Roberta (Richard) Nagano, and brother-in-law Jitsuo (Ethel) Nakashima. He is also survived by 21 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-grand nieces and nephews.

Kazu was a very strong and determined individual who was a self-taught individual and was known for his many talents as being a fixer-upper. At a very young age, he helped his parents and siblings on the family farm and then was employed at Maui Pineapple Company for more than 45 years. Be-cause of his knowledge and experience, his mechanical skills came in handy and he was known as a multi-taker. While at Maui Pine he trained the summer hires how to operate the pineapple trucks to tran-sport the harvested pineapples from the fields to the Maui Pine Cannery. You would al-ways find Kazu working part-time at the Masusako Garage in Makawao on cars need-ing repairs. You would always see him in his blue coveralls working on whatever comeshis way.

Kazu’s recreational past-time would begoing on fishing trips with his brothers andalso his love for game hunting.

The Nagano family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Island Hospice for compassionate care. His dog, Sachi, was his constant and faithful companion to the very end. He will be missed.

Nakamura Mortuary as-sisted the family with the funeral arrangements and a private service and internment were held earlier due to the covid-19 pandemic restric-tions. The family requested no flowers and koden.
