Tommy Minoru Sato, 90, of Wailuku, passed away on November 10, 2021, at Maui Memorial Medical Center.
Mr. Sato was born on June 21, 1931, in Kahului. He attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering (Electrical Engineering), Mauna Olu Community College, and retired from Maui Electric Company as Manager of the Department of Engineering and Special Projects.
He served on the County of Maui Planning Commission, Board of Variance and Review, Urban Design Review Board, Street Lighting Committee, Subdivision Standards Committee, and Underground Utilities Standard Committee.
He also was an active member of the Kahului Lions Club, the Maui AJA Veterans Club, and the Maui No Ka Oi Chapter 282 Korean War Veterans Association.
Mr. Sato is survived by his wife, Jane Sato, son Creighton (Susan) Sato, and two daughters, Laurel Sato and Lisa Endo, all of Maui. He has seven grandsons, Zalen, Zachary, Jeremy, Darien, Keefer, Cameron, Trucker (Keisha); one granddaughter, Jalene; one hanai grandson, Teri; and seven great-grandchildren. He leaves behind three sisters, Fumie (Katsumi, deceased) Hanada, Terumi (Jacob, deceased) Jichaku, Mitsuko (Tadashi) Yoshizawa, and brother Masaji (Elaine) Sato. Also, sister-in-law Mitsue Sato. He is predeceased by brothers, Moriharu and Iwao, and sister Yoshie (Shigeru) Ihara.
A private service will be held, with Nakamura Mortuary assisting. The family respectfully asks no koden or flowers.
