It is with fond remembrance that we announce the passing of Larry James Hamilton, "LarryJ", age 77, of Kihei, Hawaii, formerly of Gary. LarryJ passed away in his sleep due to respiratory failure, at Maui General Hospital, on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. He was born on February 27, 1944, in Gary Indiana, to Charles F. and Harriet (Nelson) Hamilton. LarryJ graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1962.
In his later years, Larry created a new life for himself on the island of Maui. He was an active member of the local community and participated in little league coaching, being a "Soccer dad" and volunteering for local community organizations. He was a proud member of the Maui County Civil Defense Agency's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and supported the local Veteran's organization. In 2018 LarryJ graduated from the University of Hawaii's Maui campus, receiving an Associates degree with honors as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
We will celebrate Larry's life March 28th, 2022 with a small gathering at 5:30 pm at Charlie Young Beach in Kihei. Please check Larry J. Hamilton Facebook page for specific details.
