Setsuko Takahashi, 96
Setsuko Takahashi of Pukalani, Maui, passed away on July 7, 2022, under the care of Islands Hospice. She was born on October 1, 1925, in Spreckelsville, Maui.
Private services for Setsuko were held on July 16 at Paia Man-tokuji Soto Zen Mission. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that ko-den be made to Islands Hospice or Paia Mantokuji Soto Zen Mission.
Setsuko worked at Maui Pineapple Cannery as a pineapple trimmer for 20+ years. She also found time to babysit her grandchildren and children of family and friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Shizuo Takahashi. She is survived by her children, Les (Linda) Takahashi, Joyce Naomi Takahashi, Brian (Joyce) Takahashi; grandchildren, Chad (Jackie Jung) Takahashi, Shayne Takahashi, Sheryl Ann (Andrew McHarg) Takahashi, Kacie (Phil) Le, Bryce Takahashi (deceased); and 1 great grandchild, Rayne Takahashi.
The family would like to thank the staff at Islands Hospice especially to Vivian, Jen, and Beverly for their care and support. Also, thank you to Paia Mantokuji Soto Zen Mission and Reverend Tomoki Hirasawa and his wife for their kind words and prayers for Setsuko.
