Chiyoko Kaneshiro Matsui of Kahului, Maui, Hawaii passed away on October 1, 2022 under the care of Islands Hos-pice. She was born on March 3, 1922 in Hakalau, Hawaii on the Big Island to Tampei & Uto Kaneshiro.
Chiyoko is pre-deceased by her parents, Tampei & Uto Kaneshiro; husband, Saburo Matsui, siblings, Tazuko (Kakukichi) Ginoza; Kimiko (Kameo) Kaneshiro, Jensei (Harue Tanimoto) Kaneshiro, Hideko (Robert) Miyashiro; Fujie (Takeo Ike) Ikeda, Ayako (Albert) Souza, Kiyoshi (Beatrice Ogawa) Kaneshiro, and Sueko Kaneshiro.
She is survived by her sister, Shizuko (James) Tanabe; children, Beverly T. Suzuki, Patrick T. (Gail) Matsui, and Gerald S. (Zina) Matsui; grandchildren, Cherise Suzuki, Kyle Suzuki, Shannon (Lame) Vehikite, Maile (Vince) Vasoli, Cheryl (Joseph) Matsui-Modrow, Alena (Hanalei) Baisa, Kristin (Amon) Werthman; Lahela (Kyle) Lebag and Tiffany Matsui; great-grandchildren, Liliola & Patrick Vehikite, Rocco & Bella Vasoli; Isaiah & Liah Matsui-Modrow, Alea Arakawa, Liliana Matsui, Aalii Baisa, Ka-den Lebag, Mia Matsui, Alexandria & Gabriella Wertman.
Private services for friends and family will be held at Nakamura Mortuary located on 1218 Lower Main Street, Wailuku, Hawaii 96793 on Saturday, November 12, 2022; viewing 10:00 a.m.-11:30a.m.; service 11:30a.m.-12:30p.m. Bento lunch reception: 12:30-1:30p.m. Maui Memorial Park located at 450 Waiale Road, Wailuku, Hawaii 96793 at 2:00p.m.
Masks and social distancing will be required to attend the services as a health precaution for everyone.
