David John Rostetter, 76

On a peaceful morning in his Shenandoah Mountain home, David John Rostetter (born on April 22, 1947) passed away on April 26th, 2023 in the loving company of his five children and wife.

He is survived by wife Mary Ellen Rostetter and former wife Judith Silverbush; His children Aimee, David, Emily, Joanna and Daniel; and his three grandchildren Elsa, Remy and David; and brother Robert Rostetter. David was predeceased by his mother Gladys West-brook and his father Joseph Rostetter.

After obtaining his doctorate in Education Administration in New York State University, David championed the rights of school children with special needs through his work with the United States Government, assisting in developing federal law and leaving a lasting legacy for students across the nation.

For forty years he provided expert support to families, schools, state agencies, federal agencies, and public interest organizations. Upon embarking on his privatized successful entrepreneurship in Education Consulting, David also served as a professor at St. John Fisher College further enhancing the professional development of those in his field. David was the president of his own company, a culmination of his lifelong work and passion called FEATE – The Fund for Equal Access to Education.

A father figure to many, David further gave light and support to many through his unyielding and unwavering want to help others, beyond his

biological kin. With a diverse appreciation of music, many were graced by his undeniable talents he conveyed on his bass and trumpet.

He enjoyed historical literature and sports including basketball and baseball, and was known for his impeccable wit and charismatic humor. As David Rostetter always said: “Be kind to children” in his honor.
