Fumie Hanada, 98

Born on July 31, 1924 in Kahului, she was a familiar face at Wailuku Florist near the old Ooka Super Market and later at Kaahumanu Center’s Shirokiya and Camellia Seed Store.

She enjoyed working in her yard, helping care for her grandchildren, playing all kinds of card games and solving Word Search puzzles.

She was predeceased by her husband, Katsumi, and daughter Diane Hanada.

She is survived by daughters, Gail (Daniel) Kawahara, Wendy (George) Choi; grandchildren, Dana Agarano, Jonathan (Kristie) Choi, and David (Carly) Choi; and great-grandchildren, Sarah and Jacob Agarano, Nathan and Trevor Choi, and Luca Choi.

The family would like to relay a very special thank you to Rosalie Alcon and her family for their support, care and compassion given to our mother. Thank you also to the staff of Hospice Maui.

A private service was held. Honoring Fumie’s request, no koden please. However, donations may be made in her name to Wailuku Hongwanji Mission.
