Yeiko “Tony” Arakaki, 89
Yeiko “Tony” Arakaki passed away peacefully at Hale Makua, Wailuku under hospice care on August 31, 2023.
He was born and raised in the Piihana Camp in Wailuku, HI.
Yeiko was predeceased by siblings Eiichi, Fumiko Yip, Eiji, and Eiho.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; sons, Vaughn (Melanie) and Dale; 5 grandchildren, Bryson, Caitlin, Connor, Kayla and Peyton; and siblings, Yukie Shiroma (Toshio), Yeiso (Violet), Chiyono “Nancy” Matsunaga (Bob), and Frances Yagi; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Yeiko graduated from Baldwin High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in teaching from Washington State University.
He later became a school administrator for the DOE at Maunaloa El, Kihei El, Kahului El and Wailuku El.
He was a philanthropist working with many politicians such as Hawaii governors, mayors, congress and council members, and various organizations.
Private services were held. In lieu of koden, please make your do-nation on behalf of the late Yeiko Arakaki to Wailuku Hongwanji, Maui Okinawa Ken Jin Kai or Maui Okinawan Center.
