It is with great sadness the passing of our daughter Denise Leilani Douglas of Kula. On September 30, 2023, at the age of 39, she passed away at Maui Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her children, parents, family and friends. She was living in Wailuku at the time. Denise was born Febuary 11, 1984 in Maui Memorial Hospital to Robert (Bob) and Dinah Douglas of Kula. She is survived by her four children, daughters Alicia Douglas, Tiare Wallace, sons Treyden Wallace and Nainoa Cadle, her only sister Audrey Noelani Douglas, brothers Keith Douglas & Dayne Carvalho, Michael (Kehu) Douglas, nephews Ikaika Rodriques, Jax Douglas, nieces Maitea, Mya, Lehia, Rea Douglas, and her parents Robert (Bob) and Dinah Douglas. Funeral service for Denise will be at Ballard's Mortuary in Kahului, on October 21, 2023, from 9am for family, 10am for the public with services to follow, ending at 12 noon. Denise attended Makawao Hongwanji Preschool in Pukalani at the age of 3, went on to Kula Elementary School, where she joined the Daisy and Brownie Troops, she then went on to Kalama Intermediate, joined the Kalama School Band, then on to Maui High and King Kekaulike High School. In 1997 and 1998, Denise was in the Merrie Monarch under the late Kumu Hula Nina & Charlie Maxwell with the Pukalani Hula Halau, and danced hula at Maui's first time Hula Bowl Show. Becoming a mother at a young age, living alone with her children has taught her the values and struggles of life. During her last days, she went jogging, loved fishing, going to the beach, and watched her son play football. Her children were her life and she will be sadly missed. She was currently employed by Safeway on Hookele in Kahului. We would like to thank the Maui Memorial Medical Center's ICU doctors, nurses who have cared for her and the chaplains who have supported us throughout. Many "Mahalo's" to our extended family, friends and her co-workers for your thoughts, prayers, love and support you gave us during this time. May You Rest In Peace with no more pain and suffering.
