Katherine L. Elsen
Katherine L. Elsen, also affectionately known as “K”, “Kai” or “Aunty K” passed peacefully on December 11, 2023 at Maui Memorial Hospital. She was born in March 1948 to Louis J Elsen and La Verne Johnson Elsen of Chicago, IL. She was 75 years old. She is survived by her sister Christine Ridley of Washington, brother in law David E. Ridley and nephews David L. Ridley and Louis J. Ridley.
K moved to Maui in 1981. She worked at Kihei Veterinary Clinic, then at Lahaina Veterinary Clinic until her retirement.
Maui was K’s forever home. She touched so many people’s lives, as many of her veterinary clients became her friend.
Her passions were caring for people and pets as well as her beautiful flower garden. She also loved to decorate her home and yard for the holidays for friends and neighbors to enjoy. Most memorable was her gift of greeting cards, not a holiday or occasion passed without one of K’s cards to brighten your day.
K will be deeply missed by her friends and ohana, but never forgotten.
